Highest paying GOOGLE Adsense keywords

Recently I came across blogs writing about highest paying Google Adsense keywords and how if a user factors his/her content around those keywords, can get rich literally overnight. I don’t use Google’s adsense on this blog. My daily hits are steadily rising but they are yet to reach a critical mass. Google’s minimum payment clause means that if you have just gotten into blogging, its going to take a while to hit the magic mark.

But in case you use Google adsense then it is in your interest, economically speaking, to know which keywords pay more than others in order for you to factor in the right content for your site.

According to those blogs, below mentioned are some of the highest paying key words in the Google Adsense program. The blogs claim that by using your content around these words, you can easily double the income and make a lot of money. Sounds tempting and attractive.

ITS A Hoax!!

After reading this and doing a bit of online investigative work myself, I have come to the conclusion that this is nothing but a hoax. You will find a lot of blogs and websites publishing the above list but there is nothing to back up these claims. The source of this list are usually fraudulent websites hoping to attract gullible surfers and getting them to click links on their own websites.

It is an urban myth like one of those chain mail kind of forwards that keep popping up in your inbox time to time. According to various posts on the tech blogs and SEO sites, sponsors pay the highest CPC amount for terms like lawyers, forex etc. But most of these sites lack any credibility.

Standard Google policy dictates that such information is a closely guarded secret and is never made public. People have even tried analyzing Google AdWords program but there is no fool proof way to tell which word will pay the highest.

In one of the forums, one user even goes to the extent of saying that

You shouldn't be building pages for AdSense. You should be putting AdSense ads on pages with lots of good content. Build the pages for the reader, optimize them for the Search Engines, then you will get visitors who are interested in the content and will be interested in the AdSense ads. That is how you get a good CTR and that is how you make money with AdSense.

and I totally agree with that.

Apress has just released a highly rated and recommended book aptly titled - Practical Web 2.0 Applications with PHP.

The book has been written by Quentin Zervaas. There is not much information available about the author but the book’s web page has the following to say about the author’s work,

In Practical Web 2.0 Applications with PHP, PHP, MySQL, CSS, XHTML, and JavaScript/Ajax development techniques are brought together to show you how to create the hottest PHP web applications, from planning and design up to final implementation, without going over unnecessary basics that will hold you back. This book includes must–have application features such as search functionality, maps, blogs, dynamic image galleries, and personalized user areas. The Zend Framework is used extensively to build the application, allowing you to focus on developing the application rather than on reinventing the wheel.

Additionally the book covers complete application planning and setting up the framework. It also has a hands on tutorial on CSS, which decides the look and feel of the website, using JavaScript to implement dynamic effect, (I have used JS to implement client side validation of the forms primarily and populating fields like zip code etc.), embedding tools like maps and making use of APIs from other sites like Google etc.

Those who have developed applications earlier would know about the MVC architecture mentioned in the book. MVC stands for Model View Controller and is one of the most popularly used frameworks in building software applications for the way it separates the building blocks of the application.

The whole game plan with the book is to get you started asap with real world applications but at the same time the focus is on those developers who want to stay ahead of the curve with practical, high level development. Which implies you need to have some preliminary knowledge and programming experience to take the maximum benefit out of this book.

The online webpage of the book has an errata section where users of the book can submit anomalies in the book, which would then be used to improve and work upon the next edition of the book. Since the book has been launched recently, nobody has submitted any errors so far.

This book can be a good investment by those in the web programming industry or still in college interested in web technologies and hoping to launch that next great killer app from the garage

BLOGSVINE

Most of you must be familiar with news and links aggregator sites like Digg, Mixx, Reddit, StummbleUpon etc. Another peer web service called Blogsvine has been launched and which can be used by Bloggers to increase traffic to their sites.

With the old hands like Digg, which have been around for some time now, it is quite difficult to land up on their first page. Even though you shouldn’t stop submitting to Digg and the rest, because of their broader appeal and larger audience, but at the same time add focus to sites like Blogsvine etc. The odds of making it big on these up and coming websites are better.

What is Blogvines

Blogsvine likes to call itself a user generated, revenue sharing, blog bookmarking and rating website. The good thing about Blogsvine is that it is solely meant for blogs. Besides diverting traffic, the site also back links to your blog. This can be particularly useful if you are looking to improve your website’s Pagerank etc.

Revenue Sharing

One thing that will appeal to a lot of users is that almost 65% of the Google Adsense revenue generated from showing ads on the link submitted by you will be shared with you. While signing up for the site, don’t forget to add your Google adsense publisher ID in the profile. However this percentage can be changed at the discretion of the Blogsvine admin.

To sum up, why you should consider signing up for Blogsvine:

1. Increase traffic to your blogs
2. Back-linking to your blogs
3. Revenue generation
4. Blog exposure and publicity
5. Your blogs might get reviewed by others
6. Networking and latest news from other bloggers
7. More feedback/comments from other users

Commands that Hackers use

What I am about to tell you should be used primarily for learning and education. Certainly not for any dubious activities. It is possible to connect to another computer through the internet and browse through their directory structure, update and copy the file etc. Before you can connect you are prompted for a login and password so obviously (and preferably) you need the other person’s explicit co-operation and consent.

If you try to login without consent and approval, it is deemed as hacking. Still, if your intention is neat, meaning you just want to probe and not damage, then you are a white hat hacker. But if you want to hold the other person hostage, then you are deemed a black hat hacker.

Telnet

Let say you have a home computer which acts as the main server, meaning it contains all the data etc. and you use another computer when you travel, then it is possible for you to connect to the home computer using these commands.

Say you know the ip address of the remote machine, then to connect using Telnet use the following address.

c:\telnet ipaddress

c:\telnet 123.123.123.123

Telnet uses a specific port to connect - Port 23. So before we can connect, we need to ensure that this port is open and accessible.

To check for this and other open ports, there is another cool utility available.

Nmap:

Nmap is fairly easy to install and ridiculously simple to use. This utility was in fact shown being used in the movie Matrix where one of the girl protagonist scans a computer for open ports using Nmap before launching intruding attacks.

So how would you go about using all this to connect to another computer.

Before we can connect using Telnet, we need to scan the remote computer for open telnet ports. Download and install nmap. Enter the ip address of the remote machine and use one of the options available for quick scanning. This utility would give you a list of all the open ports of the remote machine.

IP Address:

You can find the IP address by executing the command ipconfig in the command prompt window. Remember the ipaddress that you see locally might be different from what shows up on the internet because your ISP alots a mirror address. The question is how do you go about finding the IP address of the other person? Either the person tells you you dig it out yourself. Lets say the other person uses Yahoo mail. If you have that person respond you using Yahoo mail, then you can view the originating IP address using the email headers.

FTP :

This abbreviation stands for File Transfer Protocol and does exactly that. Telnet may allow you to enter another machine but you cannot copy or put files there from the local machine to the remote machine. To do that you use something like FTP. This utility uses port 21 so you need to make sure its open and accessible. You can use the same id/passwd as Telnet for using this utility.

Netstat :

Netstat tells you the active and passive network connections to your computer. Execute this command in the command prompt of your computer while you have Google search engine open in the browser. See the connection to Google show up in the command prompt when you execute this command. Also, use something like c:\netstat -n. This will convert all the addresses to their numeric value i.e. IP addresses.

You can find the help on executing the all the above commands by using a ‘-h’ in front of the command. For instance, to find out all the options available, run Netstat like:

c:\netstat -h
