The iPod killers are here

We wouldn’t get any prizes for guessing the best MP3 player in the market. It is literally a class apart, to the extent that, there are those who mistake an iPod to be a category separate from an MP3 player.

But even with unmatched performance the iPod has lately found quite a few worthy contenders who could easily offer some stiff competition. Here’s a rundown of the various iPods and their worthy alternates.

Apple iPod Shuffle
This tiny tot from the Apple kitty impressed all with its oh-so cute form and vibrant colours. Memory wasn’t a lot and you didn’t have the benefit of display, you did however have the much-loved navigation.

The Counterparts
Creative Zen Stone
The Zen Stone from Creative is one player that can easily give the Shuffle a run for its money. It pebble look, coupled with a curvy body and vibrant colours easily attract the eye. Also, it offers an extremely user-friendly interface, that too at a lesser price. Then there is the fact that for the price of a 1 GB Shuffle, you can buy a 2 GB Zen Stone Plus .
MRP: Rs 2,599

SanDisk Sansa Shaker
This salt-and-pepper look alike player will beat all others hands down on the cute quotient. With 1 GB capacity, 10 hours playback time, a super-cool shake to change (motion-sensor) function and in-built speakers, this one is a complete steal.

Another very close contender, in fact a near substitute is another player from Sandisk- the Sansa Clip. This one even looks pretty similar to the Shuffle.
